Damir Ibrisimovic

I was born in Zagreb - Croatia, many, many years ago. I wrote it down in my resume for documentation purpose only (blink while reading it, since I’m a baby as far the universe is concerned). Croatia was then a republic in Yugoslavia kept together by Tito’s iron fist. As a brainwashed teenager, I studied at the University of Zagreb when the first cracks in my illusion appeared.

At the university, so called artificial languages caught my interest. Soon, I focused my intention at their subset - computer languages. A small circle of lecturers and students (including myself) was formed and a concept of Information/Computer Studies emerged that was realised in 1976.

It is always nice to receive words like this from a client:

Damir,

I wish to congratulate you and your team on the excellent and professional manner in which the HOSREP-HL7 interface was conducted. We were always kept up to date on progress and issues were minimal and handled in a timely and proactive manner. The end result was a very satisfied client and a quality product.

A Job Well Done!

Before graduation (with honours) I was employed by National Bank of Croatia (treasury) to design, develop and implement a number of applications including a small query language for reporting. But decay of the nation’s spirit, that even then smelled of war, threatened my own (spirit). This led to my resignation (end of 1985) and a long flight to Sydney, Australia.

After more than two years with Coopers & Lybrand, I accepted an offer from CSC (then CSA) in March 1988 where I performed as Senior Application Consultant (up to 2006).

My latest activity in CSC, worth mentioning, was design, development and implementation of a Window's based client/server applications. The development was done in Delphi 6 using VCL & CLX components using Microsoft's SQL server.

If you have a trouble with my name, it is pronounced as in Dust miracle [Damir] and (brace yourself) Imagine a brick and a ship and mock a witch [Ibrisimovic]. To hear me say my name - click here.

These pages are an attempt to articulate in a coherent manner my "description of the world and myself within it". Although in comfortable position of being neither scientist, artist or philosopher I have plenty to learn. I relied on recent scientific discoveries (as they were known to me) and scientific methods as much I could. Since this medium requires brevity above all, many things remain unsaid, but the basic approach does somehow ring true and I hope that it can provoke some interesting discussions I'm lacking in my immediate surrounding.
